Many royalties would just have gazetted him in as a colonel from day 1, but he became a cornet (cavalry 2nd Lt) on passing out like anyone else. Then had to do full course at Cranwell to qualify to fly helicopters. And you make that sound like some sort of privilege, while in fact any young officer could apply for such a course and go on it if passed the necessary tests.
