Thread Name: Lyr Req: Mr. Moon
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Mr. Moon
Between 1940 and 1945 in Oakland, CA, mother sang the following song to my little sister and me at bedtime. It was scary and mysterious. Her other songs were more soothing.

Moon, moon, great big silvery moon,
Won't you please shine down on me.
Moon, moon, great big silvery moon,
Won't you come from behind that tree.

Right over there stands a man with a gun,
Waiting for to shoot you if you dare to run,
So, moon, moon, great big silvery moon
Won't you please shine down on,
Talk about your shining,
Won't you please shine down on me.
