Perhaps the basic difference between humans and chimps is the human ability to recognize "cute". Human babies are cute. That's why we don't usually eat them. Chimp babies are cute too, at least to human eyes. But do adult chimps understand cuteness? I think not. So, sometimes a baby chimp starts to look a bit too much like a pork chop. And pork chops, though remarkably handsome and thoroughly delicious, are not cute worth a damn.
