A permanent park-and-ride might well bring benefits to the town but as well as requiring a suitable out-of-town site would also necessitate permanent parking restrictions in the town itself. However this is outside the scope of this discussion. What is relevant is that a park-and-ride is set up for the duration of the festival. For most people, there is no need to drive into town, and if despite this you choose to do so you shouldn't be surprised that it is difficult to park.
