There was an old birthday thread that somebody resurrected for me this year, and many people posted to it. Then Harpy started a new thread with my birth date in the title, since my sister "outed" me this year and revealed that date on Facebook. I figured I'd better combine the two threads, lest somebody accuse me of narcissism (see 2007 message from Spaw, above).

This all started long ago, when I expressed my disdain for birthday threads and for birthdays in general - which is why I wouldn't reveal my birthday. Then, Khandu started the annual monthlong Cult of the Joe Offer Birthmonth Thread. So, I lost the battle years ago. I still think birthdays are boring, but this one was rather pleasant. Thanks for the good wishes.

Acme asks if Abe Lincoln was President when I was a kid. Well, my pal Davy Crockett gave me his tent and cap before he died at the Alamo in 1836, and that was a long time before Abe was President. So, you do the math. 1864 was the last time I voted for a Republican for President.
