There's plenty around Auckland - I thoroughly recommend The Bunker in Devonport, the view from the roof alone is worth the visit.
Lots of folk activity around Hamilton, Wellington and Dunedin.

Martin Curtis in Cardrona, south of Wanaka is a good contact. He has a website here
It's a pity you're not there a little longer, he runs the Cardrona Festival at the end of October.
