Three -- 3! -- inches of snow! That's 7.62 centimeters. 0.164654226 Greek cubits! 5.093655387 x 10-13 AU! 0.000378788 furlongs! 4,320 twip! A Planck length of 4.715200644 x 1033! And that's at 7,984 feet!

Elk'll be coming down off the mountain now, bears'll be denning up, and soon a new cycle of life will begin again from the seeds of Autumn. Soon enough the mountain maple with mix its bright slash of crimson to the deep lemon yellow of the aspens and the mountainsides will again turn into become a riotous spectrum of colors, except in Canada where it will be a riotous spectrum of colours.

Ah, Autumn in the mountains! Where the last of the wannabe mountain climbers will find themselves trapped on a ledge at 10,000 feet and/or dead of hypothermia or falling off a cliff, their bodies to remain until what is left can be gathered in the Spring. Where flat-land hunters will pass out from anoxyia because they didn't all enough time to become accustomed to a lower oxygen level and by doing so contribute a few days' residency to our local hospital and find they must sell their hunting gear to pay for part of their stay.

And then Winter comes. No more bikini-clad bimbos finding the back country swarms with mosquitoes. No more 65 foot "Class A motorhomes" failing to make hairpin turns on gravel roads that make a mountain goat pale at the thought of negotiating them. Not until Spring will one again hear the whine, "But dear, I didn't KNOW that the Rocky Mountains were, you know, MOUNTAINS!"
