Subject: RE: ADD: Wheatley Hallelujah - source of chorus?
It's just the "Hallelujah" chorus that I was trying to find, Mo. Quaker hymn writer Lisa Hubbell put me out of my misery.
It's from All Creatures of our God and King. I learned it as Let Hymns of Joy to Grief Succeed by Roger Nachtwey, published in Catholic hymnals in the 1960s, in the early days of English-language music at Mass.
The name of the melody is LASST UNS ERFREUEN. The tune is also used for "Ye Watchers and Ye Holy Ones," and for a whole list of other hymns.
Thanks, Lisa.
