OH:

Just back from sidewalk outreach with scooter and dog-- that was FUN! I got over my shyness enough to recall old leafletting/politicking skills and met a lot of nice neighbors. A whole porch full of af-am high schoolers had just congregated at one house. From the flirting going on it didn't sound like they were related, so I gave 'em a handful.

Back at the house a few minutes later, two of the girls I'd seen there came strolling up the sidewalk. "Are you that lady having the songs thing?" Yes, and right here.

They then got bragging rights to The Neighborhood News, taking another flyer for a reason to go see good-looking Brandon up the street.... later, after they'd left him outside, he passed by with his flyer hanging out of his pocket. Not too cool to go to a song circle where pretty girls just might show up.

One of my goals had been good clean fun for neighborhood kids. To further encourage that, I put a fun CD on, by the front window. Tomorrow, a little after-school autoharping.

Hardi used to draw campground crowds when off fiddling in lonely pavilions-- trying not to disturb campers but often finding he'd drawn a crowd. Reckon I can do that. Lotta dry, cool Fall afternoons between now and scheduled song circle. May have to set Hardi's electric guitar out there too. Yoot luvs LOUD.
