Thread Name: Traditional Music Museum Job Opportunity
Subject: BS: Traditional Music Museum Job Opportunity
While traveling through Tennessee, I stopped in Bristol to see if there were any memorials to the so-called "Bristol Sessions", a remarkable two weeks in the late 1920s when visiting record producer Ralph Peer discovered and recorded many of country music's greatest pioneers including Jimmie Rogers and the Carter Family. The influence of these recordings still helps to shape American music.

It turned out that not only were there historic site plaques, there was a brand new museum, The Birthplace of Country Music Museum. It was one of the highlights of my 8,000 mile trip around the US. I learned more than I ever expected and was entranced by the ingenuity of the displays as well as by the recordings there and the historic items on display. I was also impressed by the courtesy and helpfulness of the staff who in one case, in order to answer one of my questions, went into the office to find some current information I was trying to locate. He found it and I think was as pleased to be helpful as I was to be helped.

I am writing this because I have just received a message from an acquaintance I made on the museum staff during that visit. He told me that there was a job opening for an outreach specialist. He said that a knowledge of content was important so I thought of Mudcat.

For the right person, this would be a dream job.
