Mallard was always blue in my day.
It still is.

But the steam loco that pulled the train I traveled on from Wolverhampton Low level was distinctly dark brown with a circle and lion motif in cream and some other colours. I just can't remember where we were going, but it was the seaside.

FWIW Wolverhampton Low Level Station was disused in the 1960's
