Subject: RE: Tech: Bloody website
I suspect people are running into the same issue I posted about a couple of weeks ago - Google have changed something in the way their ad servers work, in response to ad blockers, and this causes hangs if a site links indirectly to those servers. I mentioned newsdaily.com; concertina.net is another one that has the same problem, some pages not loading at all until I hit the back button. Because of the variety of browser behaviours, the variety of ad/script blockers people use, and the variety of ways ad scripts can be invoked, it is nearly impossible to get reproducible results.

Mudcat is one site that gives me few problems in that department. The ads got so processor-intensive years ago, making the site totally unusable on this machine, that I did some serious protective juju to block them. It worked great - I never see anything but Mudcat itself - but I now have no idea how I did it. (I didn't actually want to do it, but the alternative was not using Mudcat at all).
