You probably just don't have the thing set to show file extensions. (Unless you have a Mac.)

Don't drag the file to the blue screen. If you have the blue screen open and the MIDI is in the same directory, type the name of the MIDI in and hit enter.

OR

Don't click on the icon - you do this with the program not running. Drag the file to the icon and let go of it there. You want the Mid2tex icon that's green and has a little arrow.
