Thread Name: Guitar question
Subject: RE: Guitar question
Checking online I've found a site that says classical guitar strings have a tension of 89.466 lb, which works out as 40.58 kilograms.

According to this site

http://www.mcdonaldstrings.com/stringxxiii.html

a medium set of steel cored strings ,013 to .056 pulls 80.67 kilograms. Nearly double.
A set of ultra light steel cored strings, .008 to .040 come out at 37.26 kg. Just under the classical guitar set but the string length will make a difference. The classical set and the above tensions are calculated on a string length of 65 cms. A shorter string length will take heavier strings. The site above allows you to find tensions on different string lengths. I think that if the tension is not more than 40 kilos you might get away with it. Your choice.
