"The Bird Cage" was nowhere as good as "La Cage aux Folles."

I originally saw the film in French with English subtitles, but when it came time to buy it for our specialty video rental shop (foreign, classic, independent) we found it was only available on video dubbed, which is by far inferior to subtitling. Besides, the first time I saw it I wouldn't have been able to follow the story line without subtitles because the whole theatre was laughing too loudly!
