There is a point - clarity of communication.

If you have something to say to a readership who mostly have no prior knowledge of your specialist area of expertise,
then the onus is on you to present your intended ideas, conveying sufficiently required information as effectively and concisely as you are able.

Only a pompous prat would demand that a non expert readership should trawl through arcanely written legal legislation.
