Indeed. I have seen so much bullshit spewed in the media and by politicians over the past week. "Lest we forget." is not just about remembering the fallen or honouring vets or taking care of vets... it means one thing more than all of that... it means "Let's not do this again." That was what I was taught by my father and my uncles and my aunts and one great uncle who was in WW1.

Am I wrong on this? Are they? (Kind of a rhetorical question... I heard their stories.)
