Some variations in the verses. From "The Book of American Negro Spirituals" by James Weldon Johnson:
An' all aroun' me look so shine,
Ask-a my Lord if all was mine.
Jordan river chilly, cold,
Chill-a de body but not de soul.
From: "On The Trail of Negro Folk-Songs" by Dorothy Scarborough:
Ain't but one train on this line,
Runs to heaven and back again.
Both sources have the "spoke...smoke" couplet and Scarborough also reports the "shine...mine" couplet.
