Thread Name: Lyr Req: Me Grandfather Died (Peg & Bobby Clancy)
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Me Grandfather Died (Peg & Bobby Clancy)
The Shropshire Bedlams, a Border Morris side from the cradle of the industrial revolution, perform a dance called "Half A Farthing Candle" and sing the verse Snuffy quotes above. They also sing a second verse about the bloke's mother dying the next day, written by one of their number. I can't find it written or recorded anywhere, and my only recollection is that the last line is "And the other half of the candle."
Could anyone put me out of my misery, please?

Cheers,
JKB.
