THE FIRST EARTH RISE

It happened Christmas Eve Apollo 8 was televised
William Anders photographed the iconic "Earth-rise"
The Earth and Moon mission patch embraced Infinity
On the lunar horizon Earth appeared so heavenly
Genesis one to ten was read by the crew of three
God's word came down for all of us to watch on our TV's

Three Kings on camels and the brightest star of all
Were pictured on a greeting card taped upon a wall
The moon was waxing crescent that cold eventful night
Children all were starry eyed the future looked so bright
In the distance Silent Night could be heard at the Nativity
I was not the only one with high hopes for humanity
   
Of all the possibilities we are destined to embrace
From the moon our earth appears to be a peaceful place
That "First Earth Rise" must have been an incredible surprise
For God to see His Wonder through His children's eyes
You don't have to leave this world to have an Epiphany
When I see God in you and you see God in me
