Jazz critic and broadcaster Benny Green (the UK BG not the US BG) used to sneer at "pop" but actually played sax as one of Lord Rockingham's 11. When they had to appear on "Top of the Pops" or some similar programme he wore a beret and dark glasses and hoped none of his jazz friends were watching. Who were the rest? Red Price would also have been on sax (he was on everything in those days), Cherry Wainer on organ, I think....
