Sorry "Thompson", while I accept that he played his part well in "Love Actually" I can't accept that he was seduced "Without a moment's stir of conscience". He clearly knew he was transgressing, he didn't want his 'wife' to see him buying the jewellery, and was jittery when Rowan Atkinson was taking overlong wrapping it. Also, he admitted to his wife "I've been a bloody fool" (or words to that effect)
There was nothing to show that he had 'strayed' to any extent other than dancing a close smooch, and buying the 'lady' in question a nice Christmas present.
The reunion at the airport does seem to suggest that while there is lingering suspicion, he is being taken back by his wife, although she may never fully trust him again.
