Well, and now that I've commented that I wasn't getting any responses I got two.   I got one from Peter Rushefsky of the Center for Traditional Music and Dance informing me that he forwarded it to their experts in the field, and one from Michael Aylward, owner of the site "Der yidisher gramofon." Mr. Aylward informed me that the recordings were made in New York in September of 1923. Before the First World War Ludwig Satz was a child star of Gimpel's Theatre in Lemberg, but left Galicia for the USA in 1912 when he was 21.
