I was going to rent a tiller for a half-day and work on the garden patch, but my across-the-street neighbor suggested calling a mutual friend to come till it for me - the neighbor sold his tiller to the friend, and tomorrow the friend will bring his tiller and do the work for the same cost of renting and doing it myself.

I know it seems awfully early to be doing this, but cold weather crops need to go in. Last year's rain compacted the soil to the point where digging is difficult. The tiller he will use is large and will work deep - I'm going to be raking out Bermuda rhizomes as fast as I can tomorrow. And I hope the neighborhood birds are attracted to come eat grubs and bugs.
