I use a little program called "Audio HiJack" to record sound from any source on my laptop. You can choose the application from which to grab the sound, click on Hijack and then Record, start the sound going, and away you go. I then tidy up the resulting .wav file with Audacity.

In my case, the application set for recording from YouTube would be Firefox.
