In Coventry where I was brought up -a bread roll was a batch, lunch was at lunch time and dinner was an evening meal. If you had had a full lunch and not much of an evening meal you would have supper which was lighter ie soup or sandwiches around 8pm. When I was a child we used to have tea around 4 sandwiches cake etc and my parents ate their dinner later on. I read the Royal family have breakfast lunch high tea and dinner - no wonder they have so many clothes they must go up a dress size every year! Talk about Who ate all the pies!!!
