I haven't heard how successful it was, but his opinion (and mine) was that people were spending too much time 'making pretty' as a substitute for thinking. Any word processor can make good presentation slides, if you print on transparent stock. Just keep the type up to at least 14 or 16 points. If you really have to, you can paste in artwork. The fancy fades and dissolves just waste time that could be used for thinking and understanding.
