Regarding the big names in journalism, who has fallen from grace in your opinion and who is rising?

Is the NYT still the global paper of record. I hear they are having troubles, or is that just right wing propaganda.

With a few exceptions like Maddow I find most cable and broadcast news/editorials to be centralized talking points.
