After the American Revolution, one of my ancestors had to build barracks on his land on the Yamachiche River in southwestern Quebec to accommodate refugees hiking north out of what is now Vermont and New Hampshire. We call those folks Loyalists now.

We don't have much land here on Old St. Patrick Street, but our guest room could accommodate a couple who really, really like each other and aren't allergic to cats.
