He meant LSO cookies - Local Shared Objects, aka Flash Cookies - not actually cookies but with similar properties. They used to be used to track you - maybe still are, but there are newer ways now that Flash is less ubiquitous.

In one of the links www.groups.google.com should be groups.google.com BTW
