Common Metre. The classic example is "While Shepherds Watched" - if a tune fits that, it will fit "Amazing Grace", e.g. Auld Lang Syne, House of the Rising Sun, Crimond and hundreds more.

Rudolph & Puff are not Common Metre, and don't work unless mucked about.
