Pitt and I spent close to a decade together with my two sons, Jacob and John, in New Canaan CT. He helped me get started as a performer, acted very much as a father to my two sons, helped Green Linnet get started by providing the sound engineering, and traveled with us in a big clunky motorhome all over America's East Coast. We had wonderful trips to Ireland and especially Indonesia, where Pitt practically went native, adapting a sarong for his preferred way of dress.

Pitt was incredibly mechanical and could fashion beautiful instruments with his hands-- anyone who has played his dulcimers or enjoyed his decorative banjo necks knows much about this skill. One reason I loved him so, back then, was because he joined hand to heart better than almost anyone I knew. I remember riding with him on a steep down hill when the breaks ran out. His skill and calmness as the car sped downhill and dodged several cars in front of us to safety made me feel secure and slightly in awe of hum! Another wonderful part of Pitt was his love of ideas and literature. He practically knew the Rubaiyat of Omar Kayyam by heart and guided me through his shelves of philosophy and economics. We argued all day long about politics and music, but we were very good companions.

Of course we had our problems and were probably not meant to be a permanent couple though we tried and tried. Nevertheless, there was great affection and it was truly sweet while it lasted!
