As I get it, a hack can be a commercial writer, a cab driver, or a saddle horse. I fully suspect you will find all three here. I presume you mean the writer variety. I know of one former newspaper editor who is now freelancing, one other freelancer, one former cabby and a number of horses (or, at least, portions thereof). I, myself, have only ever written one news article that was published.
