This is a wonderful thing. There's a mystique to Arhoolie records and the Down Home Music store. The Arhoolie recordings are fascinating. I'd like to hear them all at least once, but I can't afford to buy them all. The Smithsonian recordings have been available on Spotify and the MP3 outlets, so I've been able to hear my fill. I hope I'll soon be able to do the same with the Arhoolie recordings.
Wouldn't it be nice if more of the classic folk recordings went to the Smithsonian? I'd love to hear the old folk recordings from Elektra, Vanguard, and Rounder.
