It's a subtle way for Wrangler to introduce the idea of Velcro into the very tradition-bound non-Velcro-friendly work shirt market. Start out by using Velcro for something utterly useless and, if nobody complains, before long they'll be replacing all the buttons and snaps with Velcro. If you don't want that to happen, if you don't want your shirts to say "Geezer who can no longer work buttons", tear the thing off, take a photo, and send it to Wrangler with a "Just say NO to Velcro!" caption. It's a slippery slope!
