THE GHOST

I know a place
Where an 18th Century
Murderer
Walks down a staircase
Into the open air
Passes through a locked gate and then

Vanishes

I don't believe in ghosts!

But when not long ago
Someone who ought to know
Told me that the story
Was of no antiquity
But the result of a hoax
In the early 20th Century

I felt oddly

Disappointed!
