Impressive line-up of performers, including Jackson Browne, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Judy Collins, David Crosby, Indigo Girls, Emmylou Harris, Damien Rice, Paul Simon, Mavis Staples, Nano Stern and Richard Thompson.
One of my favorite Joan Baez albums is the one she had suppressed: Joan Baez in San Francisco (Fantasy, also reissued by Bear Family) These were her first recordings, released only after she became a phenomenon and the Veritas and Vanguard first releases. What delights me about it is the repertoire reflects the pop music of our generation - early rock&roll, calypso, etc. I remember a night at a "folk" venue in Houston in the late 1960's after the shows ended, a bunch of the performers sat around and sang many of these same songs.
