I'm curious. We know pretty well how Mudcatters feel about the recent political activity but what about your communities? What are you getting in your papers? These three letters are in my local paper tonight.#1 - "As far as the election of George Bush goes, it was time for a change. So far the administration that Mr. Bush has presented to the country is very impressive and everyone in America should be optimistic. (Critics) need to cool their jets and give this new administration a chance to make America again proud of the presidency. This is something that has not been possible for the last 8 years."
#2 - "After weighing all the machinations of the Florida voting and counting, it is not hard for a reasoning, rational person to conclude that more people in Florida did, or wanted to, vote for Al Gore than voted or wanted to vote for G.W. Bush....With all that said, G.W. Bush will be our president. I see no reason why he will not do well at it. Let's all wish him the best."
#3 - The dictionary says' "president" is an elected official serving as chief of state...The only remaining characters on the world scene who were never actually elected by any voting majority and so shouldn't be called 'president' are Castro in Cuba and the one affectionately known in this country as "Duh"...
The last letter is from Chris Pace, the local man who wrote the song called Los San Patricios that Seamus Kennedy wrote about.
