Looks like I should have kept that little sideline out the of the thread as it has caused much confusion. And another song that we in Australia sing to the same tune (at least in the Irish community, well Dubliners, in South Australia) is the Wild Colonial Boy.

There was a wild coloniald boy Jack Duggin (Doolin, Doolan, Dolan, Duggan, etc) was his name (Boy I love folk!!!)

Bill Hill wrote the words to a parody of Ghost Riders. It was named the Portree Kid (The Teuchter wha' cam frae Skye). The original words that started this thread, and the tune that everyone uses were written by Stan Jones.
