The version I sing is similar to the one linked by Zebedee, but to a totaly different tune. The lyrics I got from 'The Seeds Of Love'compiled by Stephen Sedley published in 1967 by TRO ESSEX MUSIC and the E.F.D.S.S. Which states 'The present text has been condensed from Child's first two sets(no 46)'there is also further reference as to the origins of some of the verses. As for the tune I can't remember who I cribed it off. Why try and 'modernise' a great song? (who are Great Big Sea)?
