In honor of my rare wife's birthday we went with friends over to Coronado,the gem-like island village which houses the Hotel Del, and went out sailing inSan Diego Bay, under the high arched span of the Coronado Bridge and over to Seaport Village and back. Then we repaired to a fine French restaurant, which served the finest Filet au Poivre I have ever eaten, and an evening of amusing conversation, espresso and a snifter of VSOP Cognac. What a lovely way to spend a day! I could get used to that sort of thing, if only my bank account would pull itself together!
