It was written by Chip Taylor who also wrote "Try Just a Little Bit Harder" recorded by Janis Joplin, "Papa Come Quick" recorded by Bonnie Raitt and the immortal "Wild Thing" recorded by everybody. BTW, his brother is actor John Voight.
