Check/check. Compass and maps? Check. Pepper. Check. Someone who can actually call moose (he never learned even though I called a lot of 'em in for fun while he was with me). Check.

I went through my buddy's list with him yesterday. He's got most of the essentials correct. He's never been in charge of logistics, recon, and support services and supplies before. I mean, string? Seriously, he forgot string... butcher cord. WTF? A first aid kit with slings? A splint? A Jeepjack... more than one come-along... more than one block pulley... whistle... waterproof matches... the list goes on. Unfortunately, he just hasn't got the time to put it all together now but, as long as he has the essentials, he'll be okay.
