Strange how prejudices linger from childhood. At my junior school it was de riguer that we had to be supplied with sandals of a most demeaning variety (for boys anyway). And being a boarding school there was no escape (orphange actually, widowed mothers makes you officially an orphan)

So I won't wear open footwear - EVER.
