The "few surprises" comprise some countries with unexpectedly high per capita emissions - but, without exception, they are countries with small populations. Rainforest logging may mostly take place in developing countries, and is a concern for reasons including but not by any means exclusively global warming. But carbon and oxides of nitrogen emissions are overwhelmingly the products of large nations or blocs of nations in the developed world, and the problem is that tney can't keep them to themselves.
