I have watched Doc Watson play onstage with Norman Blake, Dan Crary and Tony Rice...Doc's fingers moved the least...being blind, he CAN'T look down to place them, so he raises them JUST enough to clear the strings...which decreases the time it takes to do things..I'll bet it is part of his sucess
