Unless, of course, the rigging was snarled and couldn't be furled. Of course, the mast could have been cut away. But I was up on the yard and "fell into the silent tob below" (as Amos said). Of course, I was off course because I was supposed to fall into the concrete at Boulder, but those winds can be pretty darn fierce.
