When it was time to bite the bullet and get a reliable wristwatch, I did read up on some other brands. That was when I started the thread that said, what about Shinola? In reading a little further, it sounds like "Shinola watches from Detroit" (they make the Filson brand too) is all about the big-business trend of hunting about for old company names, like the makers of Shinola shoe polish, and investing afresh in the old name so as to get new profits out of it....

Minuteman watches seem rather more straightforward. Old-fashioned, even; in their business practices and mission statement, I mean to say. The watch isn't cheap, but it will probably outlive ME.
