One story I read just before Christmas touched a nerve and, as a result, I've done something I've never done before: started an online petition. It concerns Arleen Matthews, now 48 and at the age her mother died of the illness she has herself, a widow of 5 years, with a son at college and not earning enough to pay her rent. She works for a housing organisation and has been suspended, in a cruel irony, for becoming homeless herself. My petition is for her to reinstated with immediate effect, the least she needs to gain a foothold on her life. The story and petition to Homes for Haringey is here.
