Subject: Obit: Stan Boreson, Seattle musician & TV host
Many children of the 1950's and 60's in the Puget Sound region will remember a late afternoon children's program on KING TV channel 5 - Stan Boreson's KINGs Klubhouse. Boreson has been discussed numerous times here at mudcat, usually by the Northwestern members (Don Firth, Bob "Deckman" Nelson, myself, and others). His music can be found on YouTube and a number of his CDs are still available.

I think it was Don Firth who had a question about the Scandinavian origins of one song, and after searching and not finding quite what I wanted, I simply called Stan. His wife answered the phone, answered a few questions, then handed the phone to Stan. It was a wonderful and slightly surreal conversation.

His Scandianvian roots and ethnic shtick were popular and pretty funny. Some of it is dated now, but for the most part Mr. Boreson made a good living and a popular local figure.

Stan Boreson, the genial, accordion-playing host of a children's show on KING-TV and a regular presence in Puget Sound-area baby boomers' lives, died Friday, Jan. 27, at age 91.
